My first intrigue with yoga began when I was about 13 years old in the small village, Rivière Des Anguilles, in Mauritius, where I was born and raised. Swami Venkatasanda would come and vistit our village and share his thoughts on yoga and life. At the time Swami Venkatasanda was just a young man and he would come and give demonstrations of yoga poses, talk about his experiences, and encourage us to not only live a life in accordance with the core principles of yoga but also share what we learn.
As a child I would run home and try to practice the poses and I didn’t always practice consistently but would always be reminded of his teachings on life. As I grew up and left home to explore Europe and then eventually settle in Canada I started to commit more to my practice. The importance for me became less physical and more about living an honest life and sharing my knowledge with others.
Now making my home in Las Vegas I love the community I am a part of and hope you will see some value in my experiences and use them in your own life. To me the highest wage I’ve ever received is knowing that as I share with others what I’ve learnt, I am inspiring change in the community and hoping it will spread through our Mother Earth.
