Stress has been proven to be one of the leading causes of health-related issues in the human body. Too much of it can lead to depression, agitation, anxiety, and even panic attacks?
How can you combat something that just seems to be unavoidable? The very first thing is to calm down, find a comfortable place where you can sit and just be. You can do this exercise outside while you are surrounded by nature and the pure sound of the wind. If you are not able to be outside, then you can do this at any time of the day by simply allowing yourself to be. Sit on the floor, close your eyes and feel your breath in and out of your chest. Inhale deeply and concentrate simply on your breath.
This is one of the easiest yoga moves that you can do while breathing and it’s actually called the Baddha Konasana. While inhaling deeply, bend your knees and open them wide like a book. Bring the soles of your feet together while sitting with your back straight. Bring your arms behind you and place your fingertips on the floor. This will give your back a nice stretch through the entire spine. Another great benefit to this is that you will give your inner thighs a nice stretch while the forward bend of your knees creates a calming effect throughout your entire body.
I recommend practicing this yoga position everyday for at least 10 minutes for maximum effect. It will release your stress while giving you that little bit of me time that is needed every day.
